I was looking forward to Dave and Jillan’s wedding day at Portage Country Club. It had been a while since I’d been there and was excited to get back there. It’s a beautiful venue in west Akron that provides everything a bride and groom would need on their wedding day.
Start to the Wedding Day
Although we were well aware that the Akron Marathon was on the same day as the wedding, I guess that I didn’t make certain of the exact route, which passed directly in front of Portage Country Club. It made getting to there extremely difficult. But, we had a really well planned out wedding day timeline, so it wasn’t too big of an issue.
Jillian and all of her bridesmaids had their wedding day hair and make-up done in one of the large conference rooms at the country club. It, really, seemed more like a suite. It was spacious and left plenty of room for each lady to do what the needed to prepare for the day. The light was gorgeous for me and my assistant, Kim, and I just loved it.
Groom Preparations
Dave and his guys prepared for the day in the men’s locker room at the country club. This would seem a bit impersonal, getting ready in a locker room. But we ARE talking about the Portage Country Club. The locker room there is very nice and, again, perfect light for my style of wedding photography.
Not Quite a First Look
Dave and Jillian didn’t want to see each other before the wedding ceremony but they did have an idea that was close. they would speak to each other around a corner and hold hands and such. This is the next best thing to a first look and it worked out great for them
Wedding Ceremony at Stan Hywet
After a few more creative pictures of Jillian and her ladies, it was off to the wedding ceremony at Stan Hywet. Another great wedding venue in Akron, it was the perfect paring of facilities for a wedding day. I will post some ceremony pictures in the next day or so that will include the wedding reception at Portage Country Club, as well.
