Lydia and Justin had their fall wedding at Stan Hywet. Stan Hywet is the perfect venue for an autumn wedding. And yesterday was perfect. The trees at Stan Hywet were clad in all of the autumnal colors that you would wish for in a fall wedding.
Getting Ready at Marriott Akron
The day started at the Crown Plaza Marriott in Akron. Bright and early, Lydia and her bridespeople busily tended to each of their necessary needs. Justin was in a room a floor below doing the same. All the the necessary preparatory pictures were done at the Marriott. When all were ready, it was off to Stan Hywet where the first order of business was a first look (I explain a wedding day first look -here-).
Autumn Wedding Ceremony in Birch Alley at Stan Hywet
The wedding ceremony was planned to take place in Birch Alley at Stan Hywet. There was a very slight drizzle falling from the sky but Lydia and Justin were not to be deterred. An extra special element to their wedding ceremony was that Justin’s father was the officiant. The ceremony was beautiful and there was no more rain.
Wedding Pictures Around Stan Hywet
Getting wedding pictures around Stan Hywet was important to Justin and Lydia since this is one of the reasons that they scheduled an autumn wedding at Stan Hywet. Being a very overcast day, my challenge was to create unique pictures while getting them to stand out amongst the overwhelming details that surrounded us. Also, having shot weddings and wedding pictures at Stan Hywet many times over the years, I really wanted to create unique wedding pictures for them. A huge advantage on this day was that they were SO good in front of the camera. We utilized every minute we could and then we headed to Forest City Shuffleboard for their wedding reception.
Wedding Reception at Forest City Shuffleboard
One of the many things that I love about my typical client is their sense of individuality. They always plan their weddings in a unique and unconventional way. Justin and Lydia decided to have their wedding reception at Forest City Shuffleboard in Cleveland. Their guests could play board games, card games, pinball and, of course, shuffleboard. Except for a cake cutting, there were no traditional formalities. A truly special and offbeat event that was super fun to take part in.
One element that makes a wedding day successful, other than awesome clients, is good planning. Justin and Lydia entrusted MK Events to help put together their day. Melissa was on top of everything from day one. Excellent at communicating details and collaborating for the perfect timeline. Kourtney assisted Melissa in helping things move along on the day of and even carried some of my equipment! I always recommend hiring a wedding planner and I will recommend MK Events wholeheartedly in the future.
I want to thank Lydia and Justin for entrusting me with their wedding photography. They have been so awesome to work with. As usual, Stan Hywet and their staff were outstanding. Everyone at Forest City Shuffleboard made their day super fun and unique. Such a great day!
