After their engagement session, I knew that Casey and Carmen’s wedding day in Pittsburgh was going to be great. Actually, the day was spent in Irwin Pennsylvania which is just south of Pittsburgh (details 🙂 ). My assistant, Kim, and I traveled there for the day to document this awesome couple’s wedding day which would end up at their wedding reception at Antonelli Event Center.
The day started bright and early at the Hampton Inn Laurel Mountains with Carmen and all of her bridesmaids getting ready together. I loved this decision because it allowed for a great energy having everyone there and more interactions to document. Carmen’s mom did her wedding day hair. I loved this as well since it made this detail even more special. The fact that her mom could help her with such and important detail was great.
Groom Getting Ready
Casey got ready a few floors above. He and his guys had a suite and hung out there later in the morning. Having everything all in one location makes things much more convenient for the bride and groom, not to mention the bridal party and families. It’s important to me to get the groom getting ready. So many of the wedding day details are bride related, and for good reason, but I want to try and achieve as close to equity in the wedding day photographic coverage as I can.  Casey and Carmen had just about the perfect timeline. Leaving  enough time for things to get done so that they didn’t have to rush around. I discuss wedding day timelines -HERE-
Wedding Day First Look
Carmen and Casey decided to see each other before their wedding ceremony. This has it’s advantages. The bundle of nerves that is normal on a wedding day is reduced once the bride and groom see each other. We can also do most of the obligatory wedding day pictures beforehand, which allows the bride and groom more time to spend with their guests after the ceremony. I discuss having a first look -HERE-
We took advantage of the time we had until it was time to move on to the wedding ceremony at Saint Vincent Basilica on the campus of Saint Vincent College where Carmen went to school. SUCH a beautiful church and campus. I could have spent hours just in the basilica alone.
Here are a few of my favorite wedding day pictures. The second half of the day, which will include pictures at Saint Vincent Basilica and their wedding reception at Antonelli’s Event Center will be posted soon.
Be sure to leave Carmen and Casey a note, below.
