Michael and Katherine wanted to do some of their creative wedding pictures at Butler Museum of Art.
A wedding day is made up of a ton of authentic moments that I love to capture. Those are the majority of the types of wedding pictures that I take. But I always do creative wedding pictures at every wedding. These are pictures that are completely composed. I control every aspect of this type of picture. From the lighting, to the background to the placement of the bride and groom. The only thing that I can’t really control is the expressions of the bride and groom, although that is part of it.
Michael and Katherine liked the idea of doing artistic wedding pictures in an art museum. Ironic and appropriate. It was right down the road from where they got ready for their wedding day at the Avalon Resort and Spa. Literally, right down the road. We could have walked there. So the Butler was perfect.
It was a blazing hot day. It was so hot that I actually avoided having the bride and groom go outside for pictures, which is very unusual for me. So any reprieve from the heat was welcome. The Butler Museum of Art was a great choice for that reason. AIR CONDITIONING! It much easier getting great photos when the bride and groom are comfortable.
As I mentioned, we chased irony by doing the wedding pictures in an art museum. But it was also inspiring. Surrounded by other people’s artwork can only BE inspiring. It was so much fun trying to interpret the context of Michael and Katherine’s wedding day in front of and around other works of art that could be interpreted in any number of ways.
Katherine and Michael were so awesome to do whatever my mind came up with. I am super happy with the results and I’m so appreciative of fantastic clients like them.
Here are some of the wedding pictures in The Butler Museum of Art.
