It was super windy and cold for Sebastian’s high school senior portrait session in Cleveland last night. Why would we do senior portraits in Cleveland at night…when it’s 30 degrees out…and windy? Because I knew that we would be able to get senior pictures that are different. And that its the reason that I do senior portraits. As I told Sebastian last night if it were easy then it would be average.
I should disclose that Sebastian is my nephew. He is a senior at Green High School. A member of their wrestling team. It is a little surreal for me because I remember this very time in my life. One main difference is that my senior portraits LOOK like senior portraits :/ . He drove up from Akron and we headed into downtown Cleveland for his pictures. As I mentioned, it very windy and COLD! Sebastian was a trooper and we walked around Cleveland’s East Fourth Street ended up in the newly renovated Cleveland Public Square at Terminal Tower.
My motto for high school senior portraits is that “your senior portraits don’t have to “LOOK” like “senior portraits”. Just say the term “senior portrait” and immediately most of us think about an overly posed picture, usually in front of a backdrop or an immaculately groomed garden where everyone else gets their senior pictures taken. I am trying to run as far away from that perception as is possible. And the clients that come to me for their senior pictures know that they will be getting something very different than their classmates. And shouldn’t they be? Who wants their pictures to look like everyone else? Not my clients
Here are just a few favorites for or photo session in Cleveland. Be sure to leave Sebastian some love in the Facebook comments section and ask him how much he loved changing clothes in the cold wind 🙂
