I was super excited about Josh and Erin’s Christmastime wedding day in Cleveland. They were so great during their winter engagement pictures that I knew it was going to be a good day. We had a great time and had wonderful success during their engagement sessions, and they had planned just about the perfect wedding day timeline. They both have awesome families. And they are a fantastic couple. So, I was looking forward to, finally, documenting their wedding day.
Wedding Day Morning Prep
The Burke’s have some wonderful friends, Jack and Leah Matejka, who opened their home for the first half of the wedding day. The space was just perfect, not only for accommodating a large group of people, but also for creating some beautiful wedding day photos. Most of what takes place during the morning is getting ready. I’m with my clients from beginning to end (my minimum service includes all day wedding coverage) because I want to capture every moment for them. Josh and Erin decided to get ready in the same house. This made it super convenient for everyone. This also eliminated a lot of logistical issues that are always common on a wedding day.
Creative Wedding Pictures
Another aspect and inevitable part of every wedding day is doing creative wedding pictures or “posed” pictures. For me, this means creating individual pieces of art for my clients. As I mentioned, the Matejka’s home was just perfect. I, really, could have spent the whole alotted time before the wedding ceremony there. We used as much of the space as we could. It was SUCH a great decision to spend the morning there. A special thank you to Leah for pointing out the space for the very last picture, below. We were, literally, walking out the door when she pointed it out to me. We created one of my favorite images from the morning.
Wedding Day First Look
Josh and Erin wanted to see each other before their wedding ceremony, sometimes called a wedding day first look. Erin wanted a grand entrance and did it right on the grand staircase. This was not only dramatic but also gorgeous. It is always an emotional moment when couples have a first look and this one was no different. After that, we were off to Playhouse Square in Cleveland for more creative photos, which I will post later this week.
Here are just a few of my favorites from the first half of Josh and Erin’s Christmastime Wedding.
