I had a post on best wedding reception facilities in Cleveland (-HERE-), so I must list my best wedding reception facilities in Akron. Akron, really, is our second home for photography, followed by Chicago. Akron is only 40 miles south of Cleveland so we end up photographing a lot of weddings there.
The criteria for a great wedding reception venue does not change based on the city. First and foremost they MUST take complete care of my clients. They have to be unique in some way. Or, they just have to be awesome. That is the case with my first venue. Here are some my favorite places to take pictures in Akron, Ohio.
A wedding reception in an art museum. What could be more unique than that? Right in the heart of downtown Akron, if you want your wedding reception in Akron, the Art Museum is perfect. The staff is always on top of it and it’s just great, different and unique reception venue.
When discussing the best wedding reception facilities in Akron, Firestone Country Club has to be on the list. Christian, the head of event at Firestone, has been there for a long time and knows what he is doing. Every wedding details gets taken care of regardless of the size of the wedding. With the main facility, or the lodge for more intimate affairs, Firestone will accommodate. And Firestone is adept at handling large events since it is the location of the Firestone Invitational Golf Tournament, one of the most prestigious tournaments in golf. With perfectly groom landscapes it a great place in Akron for a wedding reception. Here are a few that I’ve documented there. -HERE-
Greystone is one of the more unique reception venues in Akron. A gorgeous building it is perfect for elegant events. The grand ballroom is large enough for most large events. I love how the space is broken up so that guests can dance the night away in the ballroom while others mingle in the bar area while others where they can carry on conversations. Kelly, the event coordinator at Greystone always does a spectacular job caring for her clients. Greystone is quickly becoming one of the jewels of Akron. Here are some events that I’ve documented there. -HERE-
I like Guy’s Party Center for a couple of reasons. I’ve seen it get better and better over the years. Also, it’s centrally located right off of Route 8 in Akron, so it’s super convenient. And it’s HUGE. with three rooms to choose from, it can handle any size event. The staff is top notch and the food is always excellent. Consistency counts in the wedding industry and Guy’s is just that. Here are some receptions that I’ve documented there. -HERE- ,
Classic. Iconic. A historical landmark. The house that John Seiberling built is truly a gem. Although events cannot take place within the home, the property is truly a site to see. Lately I’ve done more weddings than receptions at Stan Hywet. But I’ve included it in my list just the same. Lush gardens. Beautiful walkways and terraces. Some couple will pay just to have their wedding pictures there even thought their wedding or reception is elsewhere! Definitely a wedding photographers (or any photographers) dream if they love well groomed landscapes. Here are some weddings that I’ve photographer there. -HERE- , -HERE-
One of THE most unique venues in northeast Ohio, let alone Akron. Tangier’s aesthtics hasn’t change since it construction in the 1950’s and THAT is and incredible thing. SO unique and different. The grand ballroom can handle large events but the Fountain Room for more intimate wedding receptions is unlike anything around. Angelica and Antoionette are so awesome to work with. Outgoing and friendly they always take care of their clients. Really one of my favorite venues in Akron. Here are some events that I’ve documented there. -HERE-
