I was looking forward to Ryan and Karen’s wedding day at Firestone Country Club. They are such a great couple and Firestone is one of the best wedding venues in Akron.
The weather would be our only challenge. It rained on and off all day. Torrential downpours followed by absolutely perfect weather. It was one of the most bizarre wedding days weather-wise that I’ve been associated with. But, it worked out perfectly for us. The weather turned perfect every single time that we headed outside for pictures. That’s the type of day it was.
The day started early with Karen and her ladies prepping for the day with hair and wedding make-up in the ladies locker room in Firestone. More of a lounge connected to a locker room, this is an extremely convenient location for brides at Firestone to get ready on their wedding day. It’s spacious and comfortable for them to just hang out. Plus, it has a space dedicated to hair and make-up with fully lit mirrors. From a wedding photographers standpoint, the lighting in the lounge area is a bit challenging but we handled it and Karen was terrific.
Ryan got ready for the day in the men’s locker room which is, like the ladies locker room, more of a great room. It is a great place for my style of wedding photography. A great mixture of light and shadows.
They had their wedding ceremony at Firestone. This accomplished their goal of an relaxed, convenient day all day for everyone. Neil Leeson provided the floral arrangements for the bride, bridesmaids and the ceremony pieces and did a fantastic job, as always. Melanie and the staff at Firestone made sure that every wedding detail was in place and that Ryan and Karen were well taken care of all day. This is why Firestone is one of my favorites.
